In Loving Memory of Roger Allen Smith

Roger Allen Smith, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully embraced in the arms of his wife on July 17, 2023, at the age of 68. He was surrounded by his loving family in Venice, Florida, where he called home since 2020.

Roger was born on March 29 th , 1955, in Marion, Ohio, the son of Orville and Mary Catherine (Vanderhoff) Smith. He grew up in a close-knit family with his four siblings, Patricia (Rush), Barbara (Murray), John, and Mark. Roger attended Marion Harding High School as part of the class of 1974.

After graduating from Marion Harding High School, Roger pursued his passion for automobiles, embarking on a fulfilling career in the automotive industry. With unwavering dedication and a pursuit of excellence, he achieved the highest certifications as an automotive service technician. Throughout Roger's 30+ years at Chesrown Chevrolet Buick GMC he influenced and guided many peers through his helpful nature. Roger's honesty and integrity earned him the trust of his clients, who often became lifelong friends.

Outside of the garage, Roger enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He treasured attending races of all kind, and sought solace by the water's edge, enjoying fishing with his grandchildren and the serenity of the ocean. And whenever there was a chance to experience the magic of live music, Roger wouldn't miss it for the world.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Pamela (Ruby) Smith; his children, Jay (Anessa) Smith and Josh (Angie) Smith; his grandchildren, Sierra, Caiden, Mac, Harper, Bo; and his great grandchild, Dominic; and his siblings, Barbara (Murray) and John.

Roger is preceded in death by his mother and father and his siblings Patricia Rush and Mark Smith.

Roger's generous spirit, infectious laughter, and compassionate nature left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.

A memorial service to celebrate Roger's life will be held in Ohio, at a later date, with more details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House or St Mary's Catholic Church of Marion, Ohio in Roger's honor.

Roger's light will continue to shine in our hearts, and his memory will forever be cherished.
