Ronald Duane Anderson, age 85, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Orlando, Florida.
Ronald was born on January 14, 1940, in Pana, Illinois, the beloved son of the late Vern and Goldie Anderson. From an early age, he learned the values of hard work, service, and quiet dedication that would guide him throughout his life.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1960, spending time stationed in West Germany. Following his military service, Ronald made his home in Springfield, Illinois, where he began a long and meaningful career in public service. He worked for the State of Illinois before joining the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as a safety inspector. Through his work with OSHA, Ronald served communities across central Illinois and later central Florida, helping ensure safer workplaces and making a lasting impact through his commitment and integrity.
Outside of work, Ronald found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved tending to his garden, working with his hands on carpentry projects, and caring for his beloved cats. Known to family and friends as a true grill master, he took pride in gathering loved ones together over a well-cooked meal and good conversation.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Irene Noblet Anderson; his second wife, Nancy Spring Anderson; his brothers Gene, Billy, and Larry; and his sister, Roberta.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa; her husband, Todd Stermer; and his cherished grandsons, Cooper and Griffin Stermer. He is also remembered fondly by many extended family members and friends who will miss his steady presence, kind heart, and gentle sense of humor.
Ronald and his beloved wife Nancy will be laid to rest together at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, on February 2, 2026. Their shared resting place stands as a tribute to a life of service, love, and devotion to family and country.
