IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald
Badgley
May 21, 1948 – July 12, 2024
Ronald Nelson Badgley, 76, of Edgewater, FL, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Ron was born on May 21, 1948, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. From 1966 to 1968, he proudly served as a telecommunications paratrooper in Vietnam for the United States Army, where he earned the nickname "Short Round." After his military service, he returned home and became an EMT before moving on to medical sales, a path that led him to meet his beloved wife, Sylvia. They were happily married for 50 years.
Together, Ron and Sylvia shared a passion for travel, visiting almost every state. One of Ron's lifelong dreams was fulfilled when he traveled to Cuba with Sylvia, their granddaughter, and several friends. Ron had a deep love for the outdoors, enjoying fishing, riding motorcycles, and simply being in nature.
In addition to his many adventures, Ron was a skilled hairdresser for over 40 years, owning his own shop for a decade. His talents extended far beyond hairdressing; he was truly a Renaissance man, adept in numerous art mediums including wood, leather, and stained glass. His artistic abilities were matched only by his willingness to work hard, often taking on side jobs such as tree climbing and various other tasks.
Ron's softer side was evident in the way he cherished his family and friends. He was a devoted family man who made sure to make it to the dance recitals, ball games, or any event involving his grandchildren.
Ronald was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a beloved Grampy to his four grandchildren, earning many nicknames: Pretty Grampy, Grampy No No, and Principal Hodgey Podge. He is survived by his wife Sylvia Badgley, daughters Stacy Powers (Daws) Edgewater, FL; and Megan Latham (Kaylin) Edgewater, FL; grandchildren Jonah Powers (Sheila), Sydni Powers (Logan Miller), Mekayla and Lillian Latham.
Services will be held at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 525 U.S. Highway 1, North Mims, FL 32754 on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 12:30 pm. There will be a celebration of life immediately following the service at Lucille's bar in Oak Hill, all are welcome to join for a quick drink in remembrance of Ron.
