Ronald D. Pennington, 79 of New Smyrna Beach, FL passed away Sunday, June 28 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 29, 1947 in Waynesburg PA a son of the late Norman L. and Milred R. (Auther) Pennington.

Ron was a graduate of Mapletown High School and was a decorated veteran, having served in Viet-Nam. Ron worked in the coal mines of western Pennsylvania, continued his education earning a degree in mining engineering at Penn State University and a degree in business administration at Waynesburg University. Ron used his experience and education continuing his career until retirement with the Federal Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) metal/nonmetal division working throughout the western United States as a regional inspector.

Ron is survived by a brother, Robert Pennington (Christine) of DeLand FL, sister in-law Janet Pennington (Norman Jr.) of Dilliner PA, Mary Ann (John) of Dilliner and nephews Brad M. Pennington (Lynn), Joesph D. Pennington (Carly), Michael Pennington (Jennifer), Derek Pennington and grand-nephews, Hayden M. and Aidan Pennington. Ron will also be missed by his dear friend and neighbor Angela Frassetto, as well as many close friends in his New Smyrna beach neighborhood. Deceased are brothers John Pennington and Norman Pennington Jr.

In loving memory, family and friends can visit and pay their respects as Ron's cremated remains will be interred with military honors in a niche within the columbarium at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at a time to be scheduled.
