Ronald Michael Reis, 77, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, at Discovery Commons Assisted Living Facility in Fort Myers, Florida.

Known affectionately as “Big Ron,” he was born on September 7, 1948, in Buffalo, New York, to Robert and Florence Reis. He attended high school in both Pompano Beach, Florida, and Amherst, New York.

At the age of 18, Ron began working for his family’s company, RG Reis & Sons. He later worked in several areas of the air-conditioning industry before ending his career with Mabry Brothers, where he spent more than 20 years, made lasting contributions, and built many meaningful relationships. He retired approximately one year ago.

Big Ron was a man who loved life, adventure, and most of all, the people around him. He had a generous heart and was always willing to help, give, or lend a hand to those he loved. He made friends easily and was a wonderful friend to many throughout his life.

Ron loved car races, boat races, and boating in general. He especially enjoyed fishing, with many memorable trips to Temagami, Canada. Some of his happiest times were spent surrounded by family during summers at Lime Lake in New York, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Those who knew Ron will always remember his unmistakable personality, his sense of humor, and his familiar catchphrases, “Howdy doody” and “I know it.” These little pieces of Ron are sure to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his two sons, Ronald and Brian; his grandchildren, Morgan, Blane, and Gage; and his great-granddaughter, Ronnie. He is also survived by Sue Reis, the mother of his sons; his siblings, Marlene Boss and her husband, Dan; Darlene Puckett and her husband, Dan; Charlene Marcus and her husband, Dave; and his brother, Bob Reis, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Big Ron will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his generosity, humor, and the memories he created with those he loved will live on.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Ron’s memory may make a donation in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
