Rose C. Bianchi, 90, a long-time resident of Orlando, passed away on May 19 at VITAS Hospice Care Center in Orlando.

Born on April 1, 1927 in Buck Run, Pennsylvania, Rose was the daughter of Peter and Mary Shimskie, who emigrated from the Ukraine in the early 1900's.

Rose moved to Orlando in the 1950's with her first husband, Ralph Mario Rossi. Together, they owned and operated an upscale hair salon in the San Juan Hotel in downtown Orlando called "Mario's of Rome" which they later relocated to Colonial Drive. Shortly after the Lake Eola Fountain was installed in 1957, Rose attended the National Hairdresser's Show in Miami, an annual event where participants donned elaborate costumes representing their respective cities. Rose showcased Orlando, dressed as what was then called Centennial Fountain, wearing a stunning custom made gown and headdress. She had a very strong faith, loved the Lord and attended Calvary Orlando Church. Rose was a devoted wife, wonderful cook and charming hostess.

One of fifteen children, Rose was the last surviving sibling. She was preceded in death by her husband, John (Jack) Bianchi and is survived by many loving nieces and nephews who, affectionately, called her Aunt Rosebud. A private Celebration of Life service will be held for family members and close friends.
