Obituary

It was with a broken heart that | said goodbye to my beloved husband Roy L. Barnett as he embarked on his final adventure to Heaven on December 2, 2024. It was the hardest thing to let him go on this trip without me, but his body was ready for God's Glory because there are no scars in Heaven.

Roy was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 9, 1945. He was the second oldest child of 6 children. He had a very sad and tragic childhood, but never gave up and turned every lemon into lemonade.

He traveled the world and at God's appointed time we bumped into each other outside a Hallmark store 32 years ago. It was love at first sight and we were together from that day till the last day. We started our life in Fairfield OH, then Jacksonville, FL, then we moved to Perth Australia, Esk Australia, and finally landed in Edgewater, FL.

Having previously retired he began his Real Estate life starting at the Keyes Company becoming a top producer. In 2005 Roy supervised the building and development of The Barnett Group, Inc. and in February 2006 opened The Barnett Group, Inc. in Edgewater, FL. While he won many awards for sales, his passion was tutoring others and making them comfortable in Selling Real Estate. We called him "show em one, sell em one Roy" He was comfortable with everyone in life from kings to paupers. He was a genius and was constantly thinking up new ways to market anything from hot dogs to Real Estate. He was funny, smart and a very giving man. He never worried about tomorrow and always assured me it would be always be ok. He would often say to me "I wonder what good thing will happen to us today."

Roy served honorably in the U.S. Air Force doing a tour in View Nam where he sustained injuries and exposure to Agent Orange that later in life hindered his health and caused his death.

Roy is survived by his loving wife Marcia Winkler Barnett, Devoted son Aaron Barnett and wife Tracey, son Ryan Barnett and daughter Rena Barnett. Grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah, Anthony and Teegan. Brother Larry Barnett, Sister Caroline Barnett, brother Tomy Harter and his wife Valerie, sister-in-law Alice Barnett, Mother-in-Law June Winkler, Sister-in-Law Linda Knoll and Sister-in-Law and Husband Jeffrey and Gloria Lovelan and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a wonderful group of Realtors and staff at The Barnett Group, Inc who were always supportive. He is preceded in death by his brother Ron Barnett, niece Kari Barnett Bollig and brother Jack Barnett and niece Renee Allen.

A celebration of Roy's life will be held at Elliotts Restaurant in Edgewater FL on January 9, 2025 from 3:00-5:00. No flowers please. Donations if desired should be to your favorite charity or St Jude Children's Hospital , or Hospice Volusia County.

"A person cannot be measured by where they end up in life unless you first know where they started." Roy L. Barnett
