IN LOVING MEMORY OF

September 4, 1931 – August 30, 2023
Roy Lee Hullinger died peacefully in his sleep on August 30 2023. He was born at home on September 4, 1931, in Hillsboro, IN to the late Lawrence & Ruth (Lighty) Hullinger.
Roy was joined a few years later by his brother and best friend, Ralph. Later in life they would be known as the "R&R brothers," two peas in a pod," etc. His life as a boy consisted of milking cows, helping on the farm planting and harvesting beans, wheat, and corn and occasionally sneaking behind the barn with his brother for a break to smoke corn husks.
At the age of 16 he left school to help his family on the farm, but later obtained his GED. At the age of 17 he gained his first job at RR Donnelley in Crawfordville, IN. And then, his life changed when he met the love of his life Carolyn Jane. They married (Roy, 18 and Carolyn, 15) in a double ceremony, with Roy's cousin and is fiancée, at their pastor's house on July 28, 1950. A little while later, Roy was able to obtain a lease for a gas station through SunRay DX Oil Company in Lafayette, IN and ran his own gas station.
Their family expanded over the years with Darrell Lee born July 2, 1951; Rhonda Jean – September 7, 1953; Keith Brian – May 27, 1960 and Michael Roy "Mickey"- April 13, 1967.
In 1958, Roy & Carolyn moved to Orlando to enjoy the warmer weather, increased business, and Florida lifestyle. In addition to owning and running his gas stations, he gladly volunteered as a Little League Manager and was frequently on the water boating and skiing with his family friends. After Roy accepted Christ as his Savior, he loved the church and its people and was always involved with ushering, workdays, and lending a hand wherever needed. Later in life he also discovered love for fishing, golfing, being the "Mum Man" in Arkansas, and supporting the Apopka High School softball team by donating many years to grilling thousands of hamburgers and hot dogs.
Roy was predeceased by much loved son, Darrell Lee, on August 20, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Carolyn(Brown); daughter – Rhonda Hullinger Huber(Brewer), son – Keith (Judy), and son- Michael (Sharon). Roy cherished his 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was often hear bragging that he had the BEST family in the world!
Family is expecting guests at the Church from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. on Saturday September 9, 2023.
