Freeman is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Bettie Ann Naylor; his daughter, Janice Lane; his son, Keith Douglas Naylor, Sr. (Sally); his grandchildren, Amber Callahan (Jimmy), Jason Lane (Tiffany), Brooke Jordan (Adam), Sally McGratty (Brian), John Bartholomew, Graham Niemi (Travis), and Keith Naylor Jr. "Bubba" (Jenna); his great-grandchildren, Braethun, Kaedhen (Destiny), Conan, Kullen (Bridgette), Niran, Brianna (Jamison), Allison, Raelee, Alex, Ryland, Brody, Leighton, Austin, Annabelle, Spencer, Sawyer, Graham, Paige, Braxton, Warner, Ivey, and Keith III "Gus"; his great-great-grandson, Kieran; and his sister, Merle. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jennifer Bartholomew; his sisters, Lola, Willa, Beulah Mae; and his brothers, Raymond, James, David, and Ernest.
Freeman was born on October 2, 1931, in Clinton, NC, to Anna Pearl and Atlas Pierce Naylor. He later moved to High Point, NC, where he worked in textiles. In 1950, he married his wife, Bettie, and together they raised two children. In 1973, Freeman and his family moved to Winter Park, FL, where he and his son, Keith, founded Freeman's Fabrics. The two worked side by side in their successful business for over 32 years. After retiring from the fabric business, Freeman continued to serve his community at the local Publix, where he worked until the remarkable age of 91.
Known affectionately as PeeWee by his family, Freeman was the heart of the family and the community. He was the go-to source for information, the best storyteller, and a friend to everyone he met. He had an incredible ability to make people feel like they were part of his family. Freeman was an active, social man, deeply involved in his community and at First Baptist Church of Winter Park. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and church family, enjoying activities such as watching baseball, telling stories, and fishing.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on January 21, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Winter Park, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Freeman's life.
