Rufus A. Mackey Jr., 66, of Ocala, Florida, departed this Earthly life on November 8, 2024.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 5, 1958 to the late Mr. Rufus A. Mackey Sr. and the late Mrs. Mary Clarke Mackey. He graduated from Erasmus Hall High School with his High School Diploma. He married the late Ms. Cheryl C. Clinton in 1987 and moved to Atlanta, Georgia.

Rufus was employed as a Computer Technician at Crawford Long Emory Hospital (Now Emory University Hospital). Throughout his career in music, computer technology, and transportation logistics, he held a variety of positions including Disc Jockey, mobile printer repair, lawn care specialist commercial freight driver, elementary school bus driver, customer service manager, and club cart tire production technician. His deep passion for cars inspired him to pursue his own part-time business in mobile car detailing.

Rufus was always full of energy and life. He enjoyed many of his favorite activities with friends and family such as bowling, fishing, car shows, cooking, dancing, and traveling. He loved music and enjoyed deejaying with his favorite records.

He retired and moved to Orlando, Florida and then later relocated to Ocala, Florida.

Rufus is survived by his three children; Chari A. Mackey, Rufus A. Mackey III, and Shaneese C. Mackey. His two sisters and two brothers; Teresa A. Mackey, James I. Mackey Sr., Daniel E. Mackey, and Cynthia J. Mackey. His seven nephews; Jermel Mackey, James Mackey Jr., Orville Skeene Jr., Gregory & N'Keyma Skeene, Stephen Mackey, Eric Mackey, and Christian Mackey. Great Nieces and Nephews: Cameron Skeene, Cassidy Skeene, and Cayden Skeene, Jeyson Mackey, Christopher Mackey, and Sean Mackey and a host of cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother and father; the late Mr. Rufus A. Mackey Sr. And the late Mrs. Mary Clark Mackey.

Funeral services for Rufus are scheduled for Friday, November 15, 2024 from 1:00PM -3:00PM viewing, followed by formal services at 3:00PM at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society, 954 E. Silver Springs Blvd. Ocala, Florida 34470.
