"Ruthie" Hope Côté

February 7, 1939 – March 5, 2025

Ruth Hope Côté, age 86, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, in Zephyrhills, Florida.  She was born on February 7, 1939, in Jersey City, N.J. to the late Herman and Lillian (Auchard) Smith.

She married Jacques Andres Côté on August 13, 2001 in West Palm Beach, Florida where they met while playing shuffleboard.  "Ruthie" enjoyed playing card games and dominoes with friends as well as participating in bingo and trying her luck at slot machines.

She is survived by her husband, Jacques; her sisters, Marion, Dorothy and Cathy as well as her children, Jay (Pamela) Kent, Archie (Kathleen) Johnson; and Melissa Kay Ellis.  Ruth has now joined her youngest son, Gary Johnson, and her late sister, Elsie Lier, in the heavenly Kingdom. Ruth was a devoted grandmother to nine grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren.
