Obituary

Ruth English, (98) from Tavares, Florida, passed away surrounded by her family and friends on Thursday, July 25, 2024. Ruth was born on May 31, 1926 in Amherstdale, Logan County, West Virginia. After leaving Logan County, she moved to Dayton, Ohio, then Huntington, West Virginia and settled in Orlando, Florida in 1966.

Ruth was survived by her daughter Debbie Stauffer (Red), grandchildren Kristi Hohler, Brad May (Carrie), Willie Stauffer (Marinella). Her great grandchildren Carson May, Addison Stauffer, Victoria (Tori) Stauffer and Angelina Andrade, her brothers Milton (Jim) Clay (Sharon) and Danny Clay along with many nieces, nephews and extended family. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Green and Grace Clay, husband, Chuck English, daughter, Jeanne Dunning, sisters, Judy Perry, Rachel Etherington, Ruby Craven and Ethel (Rose) Crouch and brother Franklin (Dee) Clay.

Ruth (Mammy) and her husband, Chuck (Peepaw) were involved in the Mid-Florida Quarter Midget Racing Association in the 1980's through 1990's and traveled throughout the United States with Brad and later with his race team.

Ruth enjoyed the beach, camping, boating and racing. In her more recent years, she loved traveling to the Amish County in Pennsylvania.  She also had a strong love for picnics; the great food, scenic outdoors and most importantly – quality time with family and close friends.

Services for Ruth will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on September 13, 2024 at 2 PM. After her Service, Family and Friends are invited to Mammy's home in Tavares for her Celebration of Life Picnic.
