Ruth Marie Ferguson (64) of Ormond Beach, went home to the Lord on September 12th, peacefully surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with Cancer. Ruth was born in Waterbury, CT to John and Ruth Zeppegno.  She moved to Ormond Beach, FL in 1996.

She is survived by her husband James Smith, her daughter Casey (Devin), son William, sister Nancy, brother John, and grandchildren Ryder, Reed, Remi and Addilyn. Also, her loyal dog Precious whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth and father John.

Ruth was a devoted Mother who loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren. This brought her all the happiness in life. She was the best Nanny to her Grandkids, always making sure she was present for everything in their lives and most importantly giving them love they will remember forever. She was a faithful friend to all that knew her. As a member of Tomoka Chrisitan Church in Ormond Beach, she loved attending service each Sunday. Her faith for the Lord was unwavering. She spread that love for the Lord to many others while here. She was kind to everyone she met, never meeting a stranger and was always making friends with new people she met along the way. She also enjoyed taking walks with her dog Precious in the park.

Her life was a living example of the following bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 – "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."

Anyone is welcome to join us for a celebration of life Friday October 4th, 2024, from 4pm to 6pm at Tomoka Christian Church, 1450 Hand Ave., Ormond Beach FL 32174. In lieu of flowers, per Ruth's wishes, donations may be made online to the Halifax Humane Society at HalifaxHumaneSociety.org .
