Sally Onyett 1951-2020 On December 17th 2020, our sweet Sally passed away, her adoring husband Roy and loving children Austen and Leigh by her side. Born in England, Sally and Roy, immigrated to the United States in 1970. Sally never lost her love for all things British and we will forever miss her playing her bagpipes at the farm in Sorrento she called home. She had picked up this hobby late in life, but coming as no surprise she joined a bagpipe group and loved every minute of it. Sally was the person that epitomized the phrase "Beautiful on the inside and outside". She had an easy, charming manner with a gregarious nature and was instantly likable to everyone that she encountered. She left you feeling that you were a 'better' person for having known her. She was the person that lit up the room with her engaging smile, quick wit, laughter, sparkling eyes and genuine interest in whatever conversation she was having with friends. Sally was not someone that stood by, she engaged. When her children were young and expressed a desire to take Karate lessons, it was no surprise that instead of just dropping them off she also joined the class and even earned a brown belt. Sally was also a car enthusiast and her love for her XKE was legendary! She co-founded the Florida Jaguar Club in Central Florida and attended mechanic school to learn more about the cars she loved. She organized the Jaguar Club rally's and functions throughout these years. Sally was a lifelong lover of animals and spent four decades rehabilitating orphaned and injured wildlife, often times she would show up at gatherings with a baby squirrel tucked into her bra. If you knew Sal this was never a shock, but a delight to see as she told you the story of the little squirrel with a glint in her eye and uplifting, lilting English accent. It was during these years that the family built their beautiful farm in Sorrento. The farm with its barn for the horses and all of the animals was a lifelong dream. Sally was the happiest out in the barn with the Dogs, Cats, Horses, Sheep, Goats, Squirrels, Birds, Chickens, Opossums and Raccoons. For the past 15 years Sally worked for a non-profit organization, raising money for many worthwhile causes. She had a gift for helping others with her generous nature, one of her many qualities that will be greatly missed. During the last few years Sally battled Cancer and never complained; her spirit shone brightly through this bitter long process. Sally touched so many lives and made the world a better place. She was beloved by her friends and family and was a role model in the tradition of St. Francis of Assisi for respecting, loving and ministering to all of God's creatures. COVID permitting, a memorial service is planned for the spring when the flowers bloom.
