Sam was born on February 11, 1932 in Columbia, North Carolina to John and Zenie Taylor. He moved to Florida in 1969 with his family where he had many business ventures throughout the years as a self-employed entrepreneur .

Sam was known for always "tinkering" with something under his "shanty" and swinging on his homemade wooden swing with a beer.  He also had many unique pets which he loved over the years including, a goat, guinea hens, rabbits, pigs, horses, cows, squirrels, ducks, chickens, cats and dogs.

Trout lines and fishing and being on the water along with numerous BBQs with his killer ribs, fish fries and bonfires with a drink to share with anyone who showed up throughout the years are memories his family will carry with them forever.

Though it was only in the last 20 years or so, Sam accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and had a growing relationship with the Lord.
