Samantha "Sam" Kay Phillips, 53, of North Port, Florida, passed away on May 23, 2025, at home surrounded by family.  She is now in the kingdom of Heaven.  Sam was a dedicated and dear wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend.  She was kind, compassionate, giving, loving, patient, and hard working.  She was a rock to her family and focused on the needs of others above her own.

Sam was a gentle soul with a terrific sense of humor.  She had an affinity for numbers as was demonstrated by her love of math – she served on the math team in school, she was a CPA at Kerkering Barberio (KB) in Sarasota, FL, and one of her favorite movies was, very appropriately, The Accountant.

Sam received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Franklin University.  She held certifications from AICPA Advanced Single Audit Certification, and she was a Lean Six Sigma CPA Green Belt.  Sam served as Secretary for FICPA Gulf Coast Chapter.  In addition to her 10-year tenure at KB, she worked as Controller at Senior Friendship Centers for 17 years.

Sam dedicated her life to and is survived by her husband, Kevin, and her son, Van.  Sam's family also included their much-loved dog, Gibby, who recently passed away on May 8, 2025.

Sam is also survived by her sisters, Vickie (Tory) Osborne, Nawana "Jane"(Thaddeus) Boston, and Jesse (Chris) Corbett all of North Port, FL.  She dearly loved and is also survived by her nephews Chad (Cali) Little, Brandt Little, Evan (Emily) Osborne, Trevor Osborne, and Richard (Grace) Santos, Jr. She was preceded in death by her mother, Karen Matthew-McMasters and her father, Chuck.

Sam's extended family is large, with 18 aunts and uncles and over 30 cousins, all loved.

A celebration of Sam's life will be held at Life Celebration Center of Punta Gorda, FL on June 28, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
