Obituary

On Wednesday, April 2nd, we lost our dad, Samuel Reed Finley (Reed).  He was a beloved husband to our mother, Lois Finley, for 63 great years.  He leaves behind an undeniable void that will be deeply felt. He loved his sons, Reed and David, their respective significant others, Melinda and Mary, and his granddaughters, Meredith, and Erin.  Their "Pop Pop" will forever be in their hearts. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Lee Kester.  Dad lived a full and vibrant life from beginning to end and touched the lives of so many along the way.

Our dad's life was all about service: service to God, service to his country as a United States Air Force veteran and most importantly, a provider to whatever our family needed.  He was a man of integrity, who enjoyed the joy of the simple moments. Our dad told us that you are a direct reflection of the people you spend your time with and to always leave a positive impact…simply be there for others.

We will immensely miss our dad but will always have wonderful memories of the times that we shared. He was not just an amazing husband and father but an incredible human being.  Hearing this quote: "Great is the man who can make others better, not merely when he is in their company, but even when he is in their thoughts;" that is our dad.  We always wanted to be more like him. His love, wisdom, strength, and deep-rooted faith in God will continue to guide us, and his memory will be a source of inspiration and comfort.

We will be holding a small family service but in lieu of flowers or gifts, our dad passionately cared about St. Vincent De Paul.  This charitable society is dedicated to serving the poor and needy through personal service; he spent many tireless hours committed to this work. If you feel inclined to make an offering on his behalf, he would have loved to have known that "his people" are going to continue to be supported Society of St. Vincent de Paul

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant: enter into the joy of thy lord" Matthew 25:21-23

Love you forever and always, Dad.
