IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sara Lee
Konopinski
September 15, 1946 – January 27, 2026
Sara Lee Konopinski, 79, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Sara is survived by her sons, Tim Konopinski of Casselberry, Florida, and Jason Konopinski of Deltona, Florida, and her sister, Carol Johnson of Fort Wayne. She was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren—Courtney, Samarah, Chloe, and Jacob—who brought immense joy and purpose to her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Hall Miller and Eve (Stoffel) Miller; her sisters, Linda Woodside and Mary R. Miller; and her brother, Richard Miller. Sara also remained a caring and supportive friend to her former husband, Dan Konopinski, a testament to her compassion and generous heart.
Sara earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and began her career teaching in South Bend and Fort Wayne, Indiana, where her natural warmth and love for children flourished in the classroom. She later dedicated more than 30 years to Materials Management at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne and Community Hospital in Indianapolis, serving patients and colleagues with unwavering commitment and kindness.
Above all, Sara treasured her role as “Grandma Sara.” Her four grandchildren were the light of her life, and she built deep, meaningful bonds with each of them. From Camp Grandma and sleepovers to board games, holiday traditions, Disney movies, and countless arts-and-crafts projects, she created a world of fun, comfort, and unconditional love. She embraced every moment—big and small—and followed her grandchildren wherever life took them, including during their move to Florida. Her happiest place was always wherever they were.
Sara’s love, devotion, and joyful spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family. She is deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
The family extends special thanks to the compassionate caregivers at Halifax Hospice and AdventHealth Hospice. Their exceptional care and heartfelt support made Sara’s final weeks more peaceful and meaningful for her and those who loved her.
In accordance with Sara’s wishes, services will be private for the immediate family. A celebration of life will be held this spring in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Susan G. Komen (www.komen.org) in support of their mission to end breast cancer.
