Obituary

Scott Diehl passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025. Born in Gothenburg, Nebraska, Scott grew up in nearby Brady and graduated from Brady High School. In his early years, he worked various jobs before beginning a 20-year career at Tenneco Automotive in Cozad. There, he started on the assembly line and eventually earned a promotion to supervisor of Departments 11 and 22—something he took great pride in.

After two decades at Tenneco, Scott embraced a new chapter, moving into retail sales. He spent the next 14 years working at Erickson's Furniture in North Platte, where he continued to build relationships with coworkers and customers alike.

Following a major heart surgery, Scott and his beloved wife, Pam, made the decision to relocate to Daytona Beach, Florida. They spent the last 10 years there together, enjoying a slower pace of life and the warmth of the sun.

Scott was a passionate sports fan and lifelong athlete. Up through his early 40s, he could often be found on the volleyball court, softball field, or basketball court. Later, golf became one of his favorite ways to spend time with Pam, his children, and close friends. A devoted Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, Scott also cheered faithfully for the Boston Celtics and the Miami Dolphins.

Music was the heartbeat of Scott's home. Every Friday evening, the stereo would come alive with his favorite records, signaling the start of a cherished tradition—family and friends gathering on the back patio, enjoying good company, a cold drink, and, more often than not, dancing under the stars with his "Sweetie." Scott played the drums and could belt out a song with a voice reminiscent of Alice Cooper, much to the delight of those around him.

He was truly blessed with lifelong friendships, many of whom became like family. Scott's warmth, humor, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Willard (Bill) and Edith (DeeDee) Diehl; sisters Kathy Bockus and DeeAnn Bartlett; daughter Melissa Diehl; nephews Doug, John, and Justin Bockus; and great-grandson Koda Johnson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Diehl; brother Kenny (Lisa) Diehl; children Melinda (Greg) Girdner, Stephanie (Jerry) Riewe, Melissa (Scotty) Johnson, Chad (Tabatha) Larson, and Chris (Stephanie) Larson; many beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; his loyal dog, Sissy; sisters-in-law Connie (Bob) Westbrook, Donna (John) Tucker, Mary (Kirk) Wilson, Tracy (Pete) Dallas; brother-in-law David (Chris) Weber; and a wide circle of extended family and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life to honor Scott will take place in the future; we'll share more information as plans come together. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to help with Scott's medical expenses. Information can be sent to: pamdiehl28@gmail.com.
