Sean Charles
Brell
May 25, 2026
Sean Charles Brell, a beloved son and nephew, brother and cousin, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 25,2026 surrounded by family, in Cape Coral, FL at the age of 56. Born on October 1, 1969, in McHenry, IL, Sean lived a life rich in love, laughter, and service to others.
Sean was the cherished son of Joseph and Susan Brell. He was proud to call Wildwood, IL home during his formative years, when he graduated Carmel High School for Boys in 1987. Sean pursued a higher education at Roosevelt University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. This academic achievement marked the beginning of a career in sales and eventually led to him becoming a realtor at Coldwell Banker. His professional life was characterized by dedication, integrity, and a commitment to excellence.
Sean was predeceased by his sister, Jennifer Brell. He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Susan Brell, his sister, Amy (Nate) Hyndman and his treasured niece, Samantha, who brought endless joy to his life.
Throughout Sean’s life, he embraced various interests, but none compared to the love he had for the water. He was a competitive swimmer at Camp Duncan YMCA and excelled in the sport. He was taught to scuba dive by his father at a young age and eventually became a certified Dive Master, assisting with the family scuba business. He grew up boating and had a passion for water sports. He loved being on the water, driving a boat with the wind in his hair blasting Jimmy Buffet and country music. He also enjoyed snow sports such as snowmobiling, skiing and volunteered with the Alpine Valley Ski Patrol throughout the 1990s. An avid football fan, Sean knew the stats on the NFL like no other and enjoyed cheering on his favorite team, Go Bears!
Sean’s quick wit and infectious laughter could light up any room, often providing a much-needed dose of humor. Sean was equally known for his unwavering support, always ready to be the rock his inner circle needed, offering a helping hand, carpentry skills, or just being a friend to share a beer with. Sean’s legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. As we say goodbye to this extraordinary man, we carry his memory in our hearts, forever grateful for the time we shared.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his name to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance (https://colorectalcancer.org/). A Celebration of Life will be held on July 18, 2026, 12p-4p at Parkway Banquets in Round Lake, IL. A service date in Florida to be determined.
