Sharon Andersen, 78 of The Villages, FL, formerly of Gouldsboro PA, passed away February 3, 2025 at Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care after a brief illness.
Sharon was born on October 18,1946 to Hilda Saar-Toomey and Lawrence Toomey. She grew up with four sisters and one brother.
She was born and raised in Scranton, PA and graduated from West Scranton High School in 1965 before working at Bell Telephone as a long distance operator out of New Jersey.
Sharon married the love of her life, Leonard "Lenny" Andersen on November 23, 1968. They spent 56 happy years together in marriage.
Along with her husband, she leaves behind her daughter Kristen (Eric) Bruckner of Bellefonte PA, her son Jason Andersen of Montclair, NJ, grandchildren Cameron McKee of Tampa, FL and
Bridget Bruckner of Bellefonte, PA, along with her nieces and nephews. She will be joining her little angel granddaughter Kaija Andersen, daughter of Jason, who preceded her in death.
Sharon was an active service member of her community in Gouldsboro, PA, including being elected to the North Pocono School District board of directors, serving three terms for a total of 12 years. She made history by being elected the first female board president. Sharon was an integral part of building the Moscow Elementary Center as well as creating the St. Catherine's of Siena's food pantry in Moscow, PA.
In 2012, Sharon and Lenny moved to The Villages, FL and began their active retirement years.
Her life was filled with amazing travels around the world with her loving husband and fun times with her wonderful friends and family.
Anyone who knew Sharon, loved Sharon. She was always the life of the party and her laugh was infectious.
A mass at St. Timothy's Catholic Church and a Celebration of Life at Eisenhower Rec Center will be held on May 5th. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests you make a donation to Cornerstone Hospice in the Villages, FL.
