Obituary

THE VILLAGES – SHARON ELISE STILES, 75, of Lady Lake, Florida, passed away on August 10, 2026. Sharon was born on February 8, 1951, to Hugh Emmett Munnell and Jane Barnes Munnell in Mexia, Texas.

After graduating from H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, Florida, she attended Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia, where she was named Miss Andrew College. She participated in the 1970 Miss Georgia pageant and went on to spend her early career with the Xerox Corporation.

Sharon later made her home in the Nashville, Tennessee area, where she spent many years before returning to Florida. Throughout her life, Sharon was a devoted and active volunteer, generously giving her time to her church, teaching Bible studies, and serving numerous charitable and community organizations. Her faith and heart for missions remained central to her life, and she was a member of First Baptist Church of Leesburg.

Most recently, Sharon served as President of the Friends of SoZo Kids in The Villages after previously serving on its board. Under her leadership, the organization served a record number of children in need, reflecting her tireless dedication and passion for helping others.

Sharon cherished time spent with friends and was always ready for a trip, whether to Gatlinburg or to visit friends near and far. She enjoyed playing Bunco, watching old movies, attending comedy and theater performances, and she had a lifelong eye for interior design. She also appreciated a good margarita, a good laugh, and above all, time spent with the people she loved.

She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Stiles, and her sister, Hazel B. Munnell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelley I. Stiles, III; her parents, Hugh and Jane Munnell; and her brother, Hugh Munnell, Jr.

A memorial service in her honor will be held on September 28, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Savannah Recreation Center, 1575 Buena Vista Blvd., The Villages, FL 32162.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of SoZo Kids Inc. in Sharon’s memory. Donations may be made at www.FriendsofSoZoKids.com or mailed to 333 Colony Boulevard, Suite #164, The Villages, FL 32162.
