IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sheila Maria
Green
September 12, 1960 – July 25, 2022
Sheila Maria Green was born in London, England, second child to Ena and Kenneth Lewis on 12 th September 1960.
Like many parents from the Caribbean in those days, she was taken to Jamaica to be looked after by her grandmother at around the age of 18 months, where she joined her brother Everal there in the Beacon District, St. Elizabeth. There she made many friends.
She attended Pedro Plains Primary School and Newell Secondary School which is now Newell High School.
Sheila was united with her mother and her two younger sisters Jenetta and Floris in Jamaica around the age of 12 years. Being the eldest girl in the home, she was set with the task of helping to take care of her younger siblings, cooking, cleaning, and other chores.
After finishing secondary school, she returned to England, and a few years later she moved to the United States where she met and married Ted Green.
Her role she undertook in looking after the home as she grew up put her in a good position as she worked for many years caring for children and the elderly.
We, her sisters, remember her fondly for looking after us as the bigger sister, teaching us songs, telling us stories, which included stories of the Bible and of our history, and teaching us to how to read and write. The songs she loved to sing will always stay with us. We won't forget her curry chicken – I am sure some of her friends will always remember it too! She loved cooking, dancing, and singing.
It is sad to see you have gone, but we know you are at rest and God knows best.
Sheila is survived by her elder brother, Everal, and her 2 sisters, Jenetta and Floris.
Farewell – May your soul rest in peace.
