Obituary

Sheryl J. Willink, age 65, of Daytona Beach, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2025. Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on November 5, 1959, Sheryl lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and a loving spirit that touched lives around her.

Sheryl was married to David Willink on December 18, 1982, following a sweet love story that began in 1979 when the two met while working at Famous Recipe Fried Chicken in Sanford, Florida. He was still in high school, and she was beginning her college journey. After three years of dating, David proposed on May 8, 1982 at 8:30pm, at the Lake Monroe lakefront in downtown Sanford. She said "yes," and the two began a life of steadfast love, friendship, and partnership.

A gifted educator, Sheryl taught elementary education for over 20 years. She earned her Doctor of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction, driven by a passion to one day write homeschooling curriculum to help parents educate their children with excellence and purpose. Her life's greatest calling, however, was being a stay-at-home mom to her son, Brad—her pride and joy.

Sheryl was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and lived out her faith as an active member of the Church of the Nazarene for over four decades. She gave generously of her time in children's and teen ministries and was deeply loved for her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, and sincere care for others. Sheryl's faith was the foundation of her life. Her favorite scripture was from Romans 8:31 – If God is for us, who can be against us? She believed fully in God's omnipotence and the ultimate victory of those aligned with Him.

Those who knew Sheryl cherished her sweet demeanor, her quick and witty sense of humor, and her quiet strength. She was thoughtful, compassionate, and insightful—always ready to speak wisdom with grace when it was needed. She lived with integrity and was wholeheartedly devoted to her family, her faith, and her calling.

She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, David Willink of Daytona Beach; her cherished son Brad (Nepher) Willink of St. Cloud; and her beloved granddaughter Nava, who brought her such joy. She is also survived by her brother Greg (Sherri) Lawson of Brunswick, Missouri; her niece Ashley Munch of Palm Bay; her brother-in-law George (Jo) Willink; her niece Kate Willink; her nephew Joshua Webb; her uncle Louis (Betty) Euton of McDermott, Ohio; her aunt Nora Hoschar of Silver Springs; and many loving cousins including Charles, Kim, Jeanna, Richard, Jeremy, Jason, Tommy, Tammy, Tina and Tracy.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her nephew Zebulon Webb; her brother, Steven Lawson; her parents Vancil and Sally Lawson; her uncles Chuck Hoschar, Foster Euton, Tom (Jan) Euton and her grandparents Richard and Jane Euton and Carl and Clarice Lawson.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 10 at the DeLand Church of the Nazarene, located at 913 E New York Ave in DeLand, Florida 32724. Family visitation begins at 10:30 AM. Service at 11:00 AM with meal to follow in fellowship hall.

Friends and loved ones are invited to attend and honor her memory. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and wisdom lives on in every heart she touched.
