Simeon "Sam"
Stancin
May 27, 1938 — Jul 28, 2026
Dunnellon, Florida
Fittingly, under a full moon, Simeon “Sam” Stancin passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, surrounded by his beloved wife, Paula, and his son, Marc, and daughter-in-law, Ulrika.
His passing was quiet and peaceful, even though those who knew Sam best would agree that he never lived his life that way. Sam was full of personality, humor, and a zest for life that will not soon be forgotten.
He leaves behind his adored granddaughters, Tasha (Holden), Tiffany, Brooke, and Tatiana, and his beautiful new great-granddaughter, MacKenzie, who brought an especially precious new chapter to the family.
A lifelong resident of Highland Park, Illinois, Sam also cherished the time he spent at his home in Dunnellon, Florida. He found joy in the simple things, including good food, treasure hunting at thrift shops, and, of course, negotiating over the price of his latest find.
We like to imagine that Sam is now in Heaven, happily enjoying French fries and hot dogs and, undoubtedly, still bickering over the price of his latest treasure.
Sam will be deeply loved, fondly remembered, and greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
