Sorrell Goldstein's Obituary

Heaven received another angel, Sorrell Goldstein, 87 passed away peacefully March 3, 2019 after a gallant battle with end stage kidney failure.  He was surrounded by his family, wife of 50 years Bonnie, daughter Whitney and Eric Chase, son Shawn & Kristen Goldstein, grandchildren Sydney and Dylan Chase and brother in-law Barry & Ilyse Katz.

Sorrell enjoyed having fun, cooking, volunteering at the schools and being with his family.  He liked food, especially eating clams, oysters and mussels.  He was mischievous with a wicked sense of humor.

In lieu of flowers please send donations in his name to the National Kidney Foundation of Florida, (www.kidneyfl.org) 1040 Woodcock Rd. Suite 119, Orlando, FL 32803.

Sorrell was proud to be born in Brooklyn, NY, December 14, 1931, where he lived until he joined the Navy to serve his country honorably in the Korean war.  Everyone is always amazed that someone that never learned to swim was in the Navy!  After being in the service, he moved to Miami Beach, Florida to work in the family shoe business.  Living in Miami, Sorrell enjoyed going out and even owned a few bars.

The family shoe store in the Fontainebleau was one of Sorrell's proudest successes.  He was honored to make shoes for such famous clients as Aretha Franklin, Debbie Reynolds, Abbe Lane and others.

Sorrell believed in a strong work ethic and was dedicated to providing for his family.  As the family grew, he shared his love with nieces, nephews and cousins.  He always had a special fondness for Sharon Raskin Hummerhielm, Shelly Hausman Teele and Allana & Noah Katz.  Sorrell opened the family home to take in friends and family alike.  During his entire life, he enjoyed cooking big meals for friends and family, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

In his later days, Sorrell enjoyed life to the fullest.  Everyday started with his favorite coffee, taking in the ocean view and watching westerns.

We will miss his smile and dedication to his family.

Rest in Peace Sorrell.
