Obituary

Stanford (Stan) Lloyd Robertson, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 9, 2026, following a hard-fought battle with cancer. He passed peacefully in his sleep at home. Stan was born on February 24, 1948, in St. Augustine, FL, to Lloyd Robertson and Edyth Robertson. Upon discharge from the hospital nursery, Stan was brought to his family’s farm near Bunnell, FL, where his paternal grandparents had settled in the 1920’s. He grew up on the farm near grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousins.

Stan graduated from Bunnell High School in 1966 where he played football and basketball and was the high jump specialist on the track team. He attended his first two years of college at St. John’s River Junior College before transferring to the University of Florida where he earned a BS degree in Mathematics. He met his future wife, Lorraine, while a student at UF and they were married while both were pursuing their degrees. Upon graduation Stan began his 5-and-a-half-year career teaching mathematics at Columbia High School in Lake City, FL.

In 1976 Stan joined his father, brother and cousins on Robertson Brothers Farm. The farm grew potatoes and cabbage, eventually growing only potatoes which ended up in restaurants and grocery stores. He, his brother and a cousin, took over ownership upon his father’s retirement. Stan used his intelligence and desire to grow “pretty potatoes” to research and discover newer and improved methods of farming. He retired in 2013 after a successful 37-year career.

Stan served as a Director of the N. FL Farm Credit, a deacon and trustee at church, Sunday School teacher, and volunteer at Halifax Urban Ministries. He was a committed Christian and an active member at First United Methodist, Ormond Beach.

Stan enjoyed family, reading, gardening, and rooting for his Gators.

Stanford was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Robertson and Edyth Robertson. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lorraine Robertson; his children Lance Robertson (Geraldine), and Jill Robertson-Li (Eric); his grandchildren Faith Robertson Nabors (Colton), Ana Robertson Stilwell (Steven), Abigail Robertson, Priscilla Robertson, Isaac Li and Jeremiah Li; his great-grandchild Wells Nabors; siblings Rebecca Prendergast (Michael), Kirk Robertson (Sheila), Tamara Duclos (Michael) and Melissa Tesh. Stan is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grandnephews and grandnieces, and great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces.

A Celebration of Life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 336 S. Halifax Dr., Ormond Beach, FL, 32176, Wednesday, April 15 at 10:30, reception following at church.
