Stephen John Gerardi, born February 3, 1946, and lovingly known as Steve, Brother, Dad, Uncle, or Poppi, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on August 31, 2026 Stephen John Gerardi, born on February 3, 1946. He was surrounded by love in his home, where he lived with his daughter and her family.

Stephen was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Ann Gerardi, who passed away on September 11, 2001. He missed her deeply and carried her memory with him throughout the years. After 25 years apart, Steve is finally at peace and reunited with his beloved Barbara.

He is survived by his son, Stephen (Eva) Gerardi and his mother Marie Pindato, his daughter Patricia (Mark) Anderson, and his son Andrew (Megan) Gerardi; his grandchildren, Emma Anderson, Jonah Anderson, Grace Gerardi, and Addy Gerardi; and his beloved sister, Angela Parker, with whom he shared a particularly close bond and who remained a constant and beloved presence throughout his life. He is also survived by his godchildren, William Hutton and Devin Abney, who held a special place in his heart.

Stephen was especially proud of his grandchildren, Emma, Jonah, Grace, and Addy. Their accomplishments and experiences brought him tremendous joy, and he wanted to hear every detail of their lives and every adventure they took. Being their Poppi was one of his greatest sources of pride.

He was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Navy. During his service, Stephen served two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS O’Brien and USS Shelton. We thank him for his bravery and service to our country. He later ran the printing operation at Brinkmann Instruments for 30 years, where he made lifelong friendships.

Stephen had a wonderful sense of humor, a quick wit, and a story for nearly every occasion. If you knew him, you probably heard at least one that began, “One time in the Navy…” or “One time in the Bronx…” His stories and laughter will be deeply missed.

A devoted New York Yankees and New York Rangers fan, Stephen followed his teams passionately. Whether watching a game or yelling at the television, he always had an opinion and was never shy about sharing it.

He enjoyed watching movies and took great pride in his enormous DVD collection. He also loved birds, spending time watching them at the digital bird feeder in the backyard and identifying each species. Most recently, he welcomed a little yellow parrot named Leo, who quickly became very special to him.

Although his passing was sudden, he was surrounded by the love of his family. He left this world knowing he was loved.

His family will remember him for his laughter, unforgettable stories, love of movies and sports, passion for birds, and the deep pride he took in his grandchildren.

Rest peacefully, Poppi. Your stories will live on, your teams will keep playing, and your family and friends will carry your love with them always.
