Stephen G. Huegel, 64 of Belleview (formerly Wildwood) departed this earthly life on 12/26/25.

He was born in Saginaw, MI on July 6, 1961, to Herbert & Jane Huegel. He graduated from SVSU with a degree in Psychology. He married Mary L. O'Dell on September 29, 2011, at Camp Deer Trails in Harrison, MI.

Steve was employed as a Ranger for the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida overseeing Camp Dorothy Thomas in Riverview from 2019-2024 and mostly recently Camp Wildwood from 2024 to the time of his departure. He enjoyed fishing, searching for artifacts and many other outdoor activities. Nature is where he was his most authentic self.

Steve is survived by his wife Mary. Stepsons, Ryan Ward, Nathan (Katie) Ward, Grandchildren, Benjamin, Stephen, Evelyn and Eleanor Ward. Father-in-law Jerry O'Dell (Terry Nichols Smith), sister-in-law Jackie (Matt) Murray, brother-in-law Bill (Lori) O'Dell, brother-in-law Wade (Jan) O'Dell, brother Mike (Jackie) Huegel, brother Kevin Huegel. Nieces/Nephews Lindsay, Adam, Patrick, Mallory, Kyle and Hannah. His Aunt Judy, Cousin John and Buster kitty (aka Mr. McFluffy).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert & Jane Huegel, and mother-in-law Nancy O'Dell.

Special thanks to the personnel and staff of Sumter County EMS & Rescue, Wildwood EMS & Rescue, UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital and Cornerstone Hospice of the Villages for their compassionate care given during this time.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
