Obituary

Stephen H Rowland lost his battle with MDS on June 25th, 2024. In his own words: He was the first child born on December 9, 1946 to Mr. Armour C Rowland and Frances O'Keefe Rowland. In August of 1951 he and his family moved to Vernon Ave. in Wrentham and two months later, in October of 1951, his father, chief Armour C Rowland, USN, shipped out on the USS Sullivans (DD 537) for a 14 month deployment to Korea. Stephen graduated from King Philip Regional High School in June of 1964.  During the next few years he attended various colleges, twice flunked his military draft physical because he was too big, but still enjoyed playing semi-Pro Football for various AAA teams in New England. In 1974, he received a BBA from the University of Massachusetts, after which he promptly went to Spain for eight weeks.  He toured extensively around southwestern Spain, North Africa and spent a week in England.  While in England, he visited Wrentham, Beccles, England as part of his journey to visit the three towns named Wrentham. In 1977, he got off of a train in Shelby Mt and hitchhiked 85 miles north into Canada to visit Wrentham, Alberta, Canada.  In visiting all three towns, he had the postmaster date stamp his passport. He is believed to be the first person to visit all three Wrenthams. In 1977 he went back to work for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.  In 1980, he graduated from Suffolk University with an MBA.  He left the bank in 1987 to go to work for Software 2000 on Cape Cod. Software 2000 eventually became Infinium software and he worked for them until 2000, when he left to form his own company, the Longview Software Group, Inc..  He traveled extensively in North America and northern Europe supporting the Infinium financial software products, including working many years for Polo Ralph Lauren in England, Switzerland, Germany and Italy.

Mr. Rowland is survived by his ex wife Joanne Neves Rowland, his sister Marie C Wambold, his brother Dennis M Rowland, and the love of his life, his granddaughter, McKenlee Rayne McLenon!
