October 6, 1937 – August 9, 2022
Stephen W. Stamper, 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Ormond Beach, Florida on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended the Indiana School of Dentistry where he followed the career path of his Father and Grandfather. He practiced Dentistry in Daytona Beach for 47 years. He was a member, and past President of, the Jaycee's. He was very involved with, and loved the camaraderie of, the Daytona Beach Dental Study Club. He was a founding member of the Smile Card, an innovative Dental Insurance Plan. He was proud to work on this endeavor with his son, Skip.
Steve lived life to the fullest and his laughter was contagious! He loved to travel, especially to Jamaica where he vacationed 16 times. He loved the music, the people, and the whole Reggae vibe. He enjoyed playing the Banjo in Boysie's Banjo Band. He had an eclectic taste in music.
He was a nature-lover. He had a passion for Bamboo. He served as the Vice President of the American Bamboo Society for many years. He surrounded his home with many different imported varieties of Bamboo.
An animal lover, Steve had many animals and pets living with him over the years. His devoted rescue cat, Peaches, will miss cuddling with him.
Steve is predeceased by his first wife, Sybil Borns, with whom he had four children: Stephen Scott Stamper (Jaclyn), Stacia Anne Miller (Matt), Stewart C. (aka Skip) Stamper, and Samuel Todd Stamper.
Steve Married Judy Woodruff in 1986. It was a shared love of music that brought them together. Their children are: Chad A. Stamper and Melissa Goerke (Mitch).
Steve loved all his children and grandchildren dearly and his laugh and joy for life will be forever missed!
