Steven Michael Terrell, 71, of Osprey, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Steve was the kind of person people could always count on. He was hardworking, incredibly resourceful, and had a knack for being able to fix just about anything. For many years, he worked alongside his parents running a television repair shop, where he developed the technical skills and determination that would become such a defining part of his life. He later owned and operated a communications business in Louisville, Kentucky.

But Steve’s greatest talent may have been simply being there when someone needed him. He was the first person many family members and friends called when they needed a helping hand. He rarely met a problem he couldn’t solve, and he was always willing to lend his time, knowledge, and support.

Born on October 2, 1954, in Brookline, Massachusetts, Steve lived a life filled with family, friendships, hard work, and the things he loved. He was an avid racquetball player and played throughout his life, a passion that stayed with him for decades. He also had a lifelong love of being on the water, where many days were spent enjoying adventure, laughter, and time with family and friends. These simple moments were among the ones he cherished most.

Steve also had a gift for making people feel good simply by being around him. He had a smile that could light up a room and a sense of humor that could make just about anyone laugh. His warmth, generosity, and unmistakable personality will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Steve is survived by his wife, Diane Terrell, who was the love of his life and his constant companion for more than 36 years. Their love for one another was extraordinary, a bond that was evident to everyone fortunate enough to witness it. For the last 15 years, Diane stood faithfully by Steve’s side, caring for him through every challenge Parkinson’s brought and never leaving him to face it alone. She was with him, holding his hand, when he took his final breath.

He is also survived by his children, Caitlin Terrell, Christina West, Jennifer Bergmann and her husband Florian Bergmann, Steven Terrell Jr., Jeremy Jarboe and his wife Brianna, and Matthew Jarboe and his wife Danielle; his grandchildren, Maylene, Connor, Abagail,Donald, Dylan, Steven, Sean, Henry, William, Amelia, Charlotte, and Lyla; his sister, Kathleen Blair and her children Katie and Gerald Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Maylene Terrell, and his granddaughter, Charlize.

Steve leaves behind a family who will miss his laughter, his smile, his advice, his ability to fix anything, and most of all, the feeling that no matter what life threw at them, they could always call Dad.

His absence will be deeply felt, but so will the mark he left on the people he loved. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the problems he helped solve, the laughter he created, and the many lives made better simply because Steve was in them.

In keeping with Steve’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral or memorial service. His family will honor his life privately and carry his memory with them in the years to come.
