Sue
Harris
April 22, 1939 – January 31, 2019
Sue R Harris, 79, a long time resident of the Daytona area, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2019 with her son Melvin, his wife Irene, and grandchildren John and Cora by her side. She was born Sarona Richardson, one of seven children, to the late Leroy Richardson and Clara Copeland Richardson in Arcola, NC April 22,1939. She met her husband Cleveland from a neighboring farm and they moved to Florida in 1958. They both fell head over heels in love with Florida and each other. Together they operated Harris Paint & Body Shop in Port Orange and later in South Daytona. After her husband retired she went off on her own to work in retail and then the healthcare industry. She was a people person and especially liked her work with the elderly. She was a retiree of Good Samaritan's Society. Her compassion for animals was sweet and heartfelt. She loved pretty things, especially roses. She collected dolls, china, and all kinds of trinkets that touched her heart and gave her a smile. One of her favorite past times was "Yard Sailing." She never left one without buying something. Fortunately, she and the love of her life, created many to cherish their memories. Five children: Joann Harris Sovia and husband George of Mountain City, TN; Melvin Dean Harris and wife Irene of South Daytona FL; Dennis Harris of Mountain City, TN; Deborah Sue Craig of Port Orange FL; Donald Benjamin Harris and wife Delana of Port Orange, FL. Five grandchildren: Sharon Lynn Mitterholzer, John Allen Harris and wife Moya, Leeah Michelle Harris, Cora Mae Harris, and Dylan Benjamin Harris. Three great grandchildren: Anna Marie Kato, Emily Jean Alderson, and Mila Rose Matos. Sue was predeceased by her husband Cleveland Jones Harris in 2010. A private family goodbye was observed February 4, 2019. Condolences can be made at BaldwinCremation.com. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research.
