Carol Susan "Sue" Richey, 76, of Ocala, passed away Friday, March 24 ^th after a more than two-decade battle with cancer.

Sue was born July 17, 1946, in Highland Park, IL to Elmer and Vera Bonson. She was the perfect blend of Elmer's wry sense of humor and Vera's compassion for others. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters-in-law, Raejean Bonson and Pam Bonson; and one brother-in-law, Don Nidey.

Sue married Kent Richey on August 28, 1966. He survives. Also surviving is her daughter, Angie Richey of Bloomington, IL; two brothers, Bob Bonson of Naples, FL & Bill Bonson of Tullahoma, TN; one sister, Judy Nidey of West Columbia, TX; several nieces and nephews; her beloved beagle, Beauregard; and grandcat, Tebow.

Sue and Kent farmed for many years in their hometown of Palestine, IL. Upon retirement, they moved to Ocala & became early residents of Ocala Palms. Sue was an avid golfer & enjoyed joking with everyone at the course.

Sue is perhaps best known as a wordsmith. Her Christmas cards were the talk of the town, and she could write effortlessly. But she always shrugged off compliments, saying it was no big deal.

Sue was an animal lover and would always ask people she met about their pets.
