Susan L. Edwards, 78, of The Villages FL, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Richard O. Edwards and had celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on August 1, 2024. Born in Allentown, PA, she was the daughter of Wilfred and Althea (Laubach) Slider.

She is survived by her husband; brother Ralph H. Slider Sr. of Allentown; son, Mark Edwards; daughter, Lynn (Edwards) Dickerson; and two granddaughters, Claire (Edwards) Fitzgerald; and JamieLynn Dickerson.

Susan graduated from William Allen High School in Allentown and Abington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Abington, PA. She worked as an RN with doctors in OB-GYN offices for 40 years.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Allentown where she was a teacher of children in Sunday School classes. During 2005 Susan and her husband took six years away from Asbury UMC to help create a new center city church, Resurrected Life Community Church, which is now 20 years old. She taught children there for five of the years.

When Susan moved to Florida in 2011, she volunteered to work at the Wildwood Soup Kitchen for 6 years and the Wildwood Food Pantry for 14 years. She was also one of the first members of the Cat Crazy Villagers Club and spent time getting feral cats spayed or neutered. She also helped others who could not afford to have their cats or dogs spayed or neutered at no cost.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Susan at 11:00 on Saturday, June 14th, at New Covenant United Methodist Church, The Villages, FL.
