Susan Darlene Hammond, 76, known to family and friends as Sue, passed away peacefully at her home in The Villages, Florida, on July 1, 2026.

Sue was born on March 16, 1950, in Marquette, Michigan, to Ernest D. Trezona and I. Elizabeth (Winkka) Trezona. She earned a bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University, where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority, and later received a master's degree from Cardinal Stritch University.

Sue was united in marriage to Gary Hammond. Throughout her life, she pursued many successful business ventures, working as a restaurateur, entrepreneur, and educator. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandson, Brooks. Sue enjoyed attending concerts and live music events, and she found inspiration for her own artwork in museums and botanical gardens. A lifelong learner, she was always eager to try new things and explore new places.

Her greatest joy was her family. Sue is survived by her husband, Gary Hammond, of The Villages, Florida; her son, Barret Hammond, and daughter-in-law, Loriene Hammond, of River Falls, Wisconsin; her beloved grandson, Brooks; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Mary Hammond, of Traverse City, Michigan.

In accordance with Sue’s wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wildwood Food Pantry, 300 Mason St., Wildwood, FL 34785.
