Susan Luann (Dally) Reel, 79, of Maitland, Florida, peacefully passed into her heavenly Father’s arms on August 20, 2026 with her devoted husband Rolly at her side, where he has been for more than 58 years.
Born in Los Angeles, CA in 1947, Susan lived a life of creativity, kindness, faith, and fun, sharing all she was with family, friends and strangers alike. To know her was to love her.
Susan would often quip, “I married Adventure”. Sure enough, she and Rolly embraced adventure together, spending countless weekends at art shows, and taking ski trips to CO and UT, NM and other western states for 35 years in their motorhome. They also enjoyed ocean cruises, scuba diving, sailing, and RV journeys to visit siblings and grandchildren across the country. Their international sightseeing took them to Italy, Ireland, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, and Canada.
Sue/Susie/Susan was always ‘dressed to the nines’, known for her dashing red hair, a curated outfit with fun and flair, fresh lipstick, and painted toes. Her closet overflowed with outfits ready for any occasion.
A natural artist, Susan built a thriving business in faux finish work for residences and businesses, and expressed herself in watercolor, acrylic paint and etchings. But her greatest body of work was quietly and expertly crafted over 20 years. The family knew Susan enjoyed poetry as a hobby and wordsmithing at the breakfast table or while relaxing on the couch, but it wasn’t until this past year, that a collection of more than 500 completed poems and writings came to light! This legacy work includes poignant messages of faith, memories of childhood, unique observations of nature, and slice of life moments of love and contentment in her marriage and in her world. Her words will keep her near to us always and a book of her writings will soon be published.
Susan’s deep faith and trust in the Lord led her to share her heart for service in decades of church ministries and community opportunities, including Walk Through Bethlehem, Guardian Ad Litem, Bible study groups and a mission trip to Kiev. Her favorite life advice, always given with a smile, was “Do the next right thing.”
Susan is survived by her loving husband, Rolly Ray Reel; her daughters Carey Kuhl (Dave) and Amber Reel (David); grandchildren Matt Kuhl (Kiersten), Mason Kuhl, Cameron Weststrate (Shaine) and Amanda Azorlibu (Derrick); great-granddaughter Lily Kuhl; Aunt Nancy and Uncle Steve Gates; and siblings Darlene Begovich (Butch), Gary Dally (Jan), Barbara Dally, and Glenn Dally (Betsy).
Susan was welcomed into Heaven by Jesus, and her mothers, Kathleen and June, and Harold, her father.
All are invited to a Celebration of Life which will be held at Villa Tuscany at 2950 Aloma Ave Winter Park on Sunday, September 13th at 3pm. Please join us in celebrating the vibrant and colorful life of Susan with festive attire.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association may be made in Susan’s name on the ALZ Tribute Page.
