Teresa Edith
Avenall
July 1, 1929 – March 28, 2026
Teresa Edith Avenall, 96, of Ocala, FL passed away on March 28, 2026. Born on July 1st, 1929 in Suffern, New York, she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Avenall.
After high school, Teresa felt called to the religious order of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill. During this time, she received her teaching degree from St John's University in New York. After serving with the Dominican Sisters, Teresa taught special education in public schools in Rockland County, New York.
After she retired she moved to Ocala, FL and continued her ministries to the Catholic Church. She led a monthly Rosary Group in her home in Marion Landing and then when she needed to move to an assisted living facility she continued leading this group there as well on the 13th of every month. In her final years she was unable to lead this group but she continued faithful service to the Catholic Church by attending services and Communion every chance they were offered. She led by example and always prayed with those who asked and needed her support. Her humble nature endeared her to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 6 siblings, Thomas Avenall (Kathy), Mary Mattern (Paul), Lawrence Avenall (Virginia), Betty Schram (Albert), Anne Boylan (Edward) and Francis Avenall (Jean). She leaves behind several nieces and nephews and their families and friends from all walks of her life.
She would want to give a special thanks to Community Companion Care and The Bridge and all of her caregivers who assisted her in her final years. An extra special thanks to her Angel Jennifer, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farms, Hurricane Debbie, the School Girl Karen and Tiny Bubbles Lori and others who stayed with her around the clock and provided exceptional care until the end. She would say they were her “Good Old Socks” as she would always keep them around.
A funeral mass will be held at 8:30am Saturday, April 25th at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala, FL.
