Thelma Teliajean “Jean” Roberts, 76, died peacefully on July 20, 2026 in the care of the wonderful team at Ambiance in Maitland, Florida. She was born on June 8, 1950 in South Carolina to Mr. & Mrs. Calvin Tripp. The family moved to Charlotte, NC in the early 1950’s where Jean was raised. Jean was a graduate of Garinger High School (1968) and of the University of North Carolina Greensboro (1972). While in high school she met the love of her life, Larry Arthur Roberts. After college, Jean followed Larry to Atlanta, GA, where he was completing his civil engineering degree at Georgia Tech. Upon arriving in Atlanta, she and Larry married, and she began to pursue, and complete, her master’s degree in microbiology at Georgia State University. She worked briefly in the microbiology field before taking on her life’s work as administrative manager for her husband’s civil engineering practice. The two were inseparable life partners, and business partners, for 49 years prior to Larry’s death in 2021.

Throughout her life Jean enjoyed live orchestral performances of classical music, growing hybrid day lilies, collecting Chinoiserie ginger jars, and birdwatching. Over the years she joined her husband on many HOA boards. While Jean never had children, she enjoyed the nieces and nephews of the Roberts family who survive her: Kevin Roberts, Conover, NC; Kelly Cashion Gagne, San Diego, CA; Charles Joseph Cashion III, San Diego, CA; and Amanda Roberts, Charlotte, NC.

A private memorial service will be held at a future date with interment alongside her beloved Larry at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
