IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas
Bartimole
May 2, 1942 – February 28, 2023
Thomas "Tom" Bartimole – loving husband, father of two, grandfather of three, great-grandfather of one, and friend of so many – passed away peacefully on February 28, 2023, in Port Charlotte, FL.
Tom was born to Bernice (Capodagli) and Roldo Bartimole in Bridgeport, CT on May 2, 1942. He graduated from Bridgeport Schools prior to studying art and education at Southern Connecticut State University. Around that time, he met the love of his life MaryElli "Marty" Kiamos. Married in 1964, Tom and Marty started their family, with Carolyn (Carrie) born in 1969 and Craig in 1973.
Tom had a career that he loved in the Trumbull School system, where the sound of his clogs and singing voice preceded him down the hallways, announcing his arrival to the art classrooms where for years he inspired students to create. He enjoyed any beach, show tunes, telling stories, and more than anything else, being with the people he loved, bringing laughter, deep wisdom, kindness, and positivity into their lives. He had a joyful spirit, persistent smile, and was an inspiration in many ways, always showing people how much they meant to him. In retirement, Tom balanced time between Connecticut with family and friends, Florida for the winter, and Cape Cod for summer. He could often be found traveling with Marty, creating a piece of art for a friend, loved-one, or newborn baby, taking a nap in the pool, connecting with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, or driving up and down I-95 from Florida to Connecticut singing along and listening to Bob Segar and Jackson Browne with Marty.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marty, daughter Carrie (fiancée Andrew), son Craig (wife Stacey), grandchildren Clarissa, Jacob and Samantha, great-grandson Christopher, brother Roldo (wife Ann), sister Phyllis (husband Leonard) and numerous nieces and nephews.
In his memory, donations can be made to one of his favorite charities: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , The Hole in The Wall Gang Camp , or St. Vincent de Paul Society Port Charlotte . Memorial services will be held at a later time at the discretion of the family.
