IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Lee
Bearns
July 10, 1948 – March 14, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas Lee Bearns on March 14, 2025. Tom was a vibrant, larger-than-life presence, known for his humor, creativity, and generous spirit.
Born on July 10, 1948, Tom had a passion for the culinary arts, earning a Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts. He brought joy to many through his love of cooking, whether it was his famous chili, peanut brittle, or beautifully crafted cakes. Hosting lively gatherings filled with laughter and delicious food was one of his favorite pastimes.
Tom's career took him through several bars, restaurants, and even a country club and golf course in Western New York before he made his way to Florida. He spent 33 dedicated years as a Disney cast member, taking on various roles before retiring from Cinderella's Banquet Hall.
Beyond his love for food, Tom had a deep passion for gardening. His garden was a reflection of his creativity, and he took great pride in nurturing his plants. His colorful sense of humor and playful pranks made him beloved by family, friends, and coworkers alike—everyone knew to open a package from Tom with caution!
Tom's interests were as unique as he was. He was a devoted fan of elephants, Halloween, all things Disney, and a well-made Vodka and Tonic.
He is survived by his loving family, including his older sister, Janet Louise (Bearns) Burmeister of Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida; nieces Lillian Casper & Balde Galvin of Dunkirk, New York; Kathleen & John Ruggeri of Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida; Kimberlee & Dr. Alex Veneman of Concord, North Carolina; and nephew Andrew & Amanda Burmeister of Chesapeake, Virginia, along with their families.
He was preceded in death by his older brother, Harold Arthur Bearns, and stepbrother, Arnie Blakely. Harold is survived by his wife, Denise, of Dunkirk, New York, and their sons Harold & Jody Bearns of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and Brian & Tricia Bearns of Greenville, Kentucky, along with their families.
Tom is also survived by his step-siblings: Larry & Denise Hayden of Port Charlotte, Florida; Duane & Lisa Blakely of Forestville, New York; and Sherry & Butch Shields of Silver Creek, New York, and their families.
He is also remembered by many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew.
In keeping with Tom's wishes, there will be no viewing or service. The family will hold a private memorial.
Anyone who knew Tom is invited to celebrate his life in their own way. Raising a glass in his honor would be a fitting tribute. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family at ThomasBearns69@gmail.com.
