Tom was born in Detroit, MI, the second child of Joseph and Irene Bedard. He grew up in East Hartford CT attending John J McCartin Grammar School, Hockanum Junior High School and George J Penney High School, graduating in 1970. He also graduated from Manchester Community College in 1972 and UConn in 1974.

His early work found him in resort settings that offered many opportunities for enjoying nature and a diversity of people to enjoy time off with. His resort years started at the Copper Beech Inn in Ivoryton, CT, followed by the The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, FL and lastly the von Trapp Lodge & Resort in Stowe, VT.

When Tom settled into family life he first worked in finance at The Savings Bank of Manchester CT. In 1992 he began work at the MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution retiring from there on July 1, 2015. Work was what he did, but not who he was. His spirit was deeply anchored in nature; boating, kayaking, fishing. He created good will wherever he went and with whomever he companioned.

Tom leaves behind his beloved children, Evan Bedard of Las Vegas NV and Jacqueline Bedard of Middletown CT. He also leaves his Valentine, France Doucet of the Villages FL, his five siblings - Richard, Elaine, Joan, David and Gloria along with their spouses and many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. His father and mother both predeceased him.

In his wake flows an abundance of jovial exchanges, many acts of kindness and great hopes for his children ‘s well being. He will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lakeview Restaurant, 50 Lake St, Coventry, CT, November 7th from 12:00 to 4 pm.
