Tom Donohoe was born on December 08, 1942, in San Francisco, California, and passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, in The Villages, FL.

Tom was the beloved husband of Susan for 47 years and a devoted father to his daughter, Whitney, and his son, Stephen. He was a proud grandfather to Emma and Elisha, who brought him great joy.

The oldest of five siblings, Tom is survived by his brothers, Mike (Betty), Bill (Tina), and Jack (Joan), and his sister, Dolores. He is also survived by his beloved Aunt Evelyn, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Tom grew up attending Catholic schools. He graduated from Riordan High School, before earning his Bachelor’s degree from Cal State Hayward.

His commitment to service began with the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country for eight years. His military service took him overseas, including a tour in Thailand during the Vietnam War.

Following his military service, Tom returned home to San Francisco and began a distinguished 30-year career in law enforcement. He served the citizens of San Francisco with dedication and pride, rising through the ranks of the San Francisco Police Department to become a Captain.

Among his many accomplishments, Tom served as Captain of the San Francisco 911 Center. His leadership and experience eventually led the City of Minneapolis to recruit him to serve as a Director of its 911 Center.

After retiring in 2010, Tom and Susan made their home in The Villages, Florida. There, Tom embraced a new chapter of life. He made wonderful new friends, enjoyed playing golf, discovered new interests, and, true to his nature, made the most of every day.

Tom will be remembered not only for his distinguished career and years of service, but for the person he was to those who knew and loved him. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a charismatic personality, and an ability to make people feel welcome. His laughter, stories, friendship, and zest for life touched countless people.

Tom leaves behind a lifetime of service, love, laughter, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him and calling him a friend.
