Thomas Walter
Lee
May 16, 1935 – February 21, 2022
Thomas W Lee
Tom Lee passed away on February 21, 2022. Tom was born on May 16, 1935 to Dorothy (Hobson) and Thomas J. Lee in Syracuse, NY. He grew up in Syracuse, attending Smith Tech High School and Syracuse and Purdue Universities. Tom was active in Boy Scouts since childhood and as an adult, served as scoutmaster for many years. He married Ruth in 1959 and they settled in Camillus and then Jordan-Elbridge where Tom served on planning commissions, zoning boards and other civic projects. Tom was a proud 'ditch digger' working in heavy & highway construction for 45 years. He was a partner at Ballard Construction for many years prior to starting his own company, Lee Construction. Tom retired in 1999.
Tom is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Mary (Hazard), their four children Cathy (Les) Pommer, Nancy (Mike) Jackson, Tom (Karen), Jeff (Annette), seven beloved grandchildren, sister Virginia Taylor and nephew Tom Taylor.
Tom will be remembered for his friendly, outgoing personality. He was an avid sailor, spending summer weekends with the family at Fair Haven Yacht Club where over the years he served as commodore and trustee. Tom could build and/or fix just about anything and built many beautiful wooden cabinets and tables. He loved music, playing ukulele and singing old and new songs. He traveled the world with Ruth and the family and leaves friends from all corners of the globe. Tom and Ruth moved to New Smyrna Beach, FL in 2012 where they have enjoyed good times with friends, old and new. When you hear an ABBA or Johnny Cash song, smile and know that Tom is singing along.
In remembrance of Tom's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Human Service Ministry at Our Lady Star of the Sea (4000 S Atlantic Ave, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169; ourladystar.com/human-service-ministry). Services will be held at a later date.
