Thomas Anthony Maricle, devoted father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him, passed away March 27, 2026, leaving behind a family whose lives he shaped in lasting ways.
Born in Terre Haute, Indiana to James Anthony Maricle and Loretta Rose (Flaherty) Maricle, Tom grew up with a drive and discipline that stayed with him his whole life. He moved with his family in March 1960 to Orlando, and it was there he found his stride on the football field at Bishop Moore High School, where he reveived All-County honors his senior year. His best game produced 21 unassisted tackles. Athletically built and sharp as a tack, he cut an impressive figure and his quick wit made sure no one forgot him. It was also there that he forged some of his deepest friendships, none more enduring than his bond with Bobby Boyd, a friend who stood by him like a brother for the rest of his life. He went on to attend the University of Florida, where he met Gloria Padgett and began his family who meant the world to him.
Life brought its share of hardships, but Tom met them with resilience. He spent years working as a tool salesman, and through decades of disciplined saving and careful investing, he built a financial legacy that carried him through retirement and that he was enormously proud to pass on to his children. For Tom, it was love made practical.
He was genuinely generous, always thinking of his kids and grandchildren, always quietly making sure everyone was taken care of. He was ever an avid lover sports, and played basketball, football, and golf, and watched all of the above, especially Gator football. He loved to travel, with trips to Greece, the Grand Canyon, Savannah, Charleston, Washington D.C., Mount Vernon, New York, and the Carolinas.
Tom is survived by his siblings Mary Ann (Maricle) Haas and Steve Maricle; his children James Lawrence Maricle, Andrew Maricle, Brian Maricle, and Misty (Maricle) Bailey; and his grandchildren Amelie and Lucas Bailey. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Maricle.
He will be remembered as a man who worked hard, lived simply, and gave everything to his family.
