Thomas John
McCarthy
Feb 13, 1937 — Aug 12, 2025
Thomas John McCarthy, 88, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025. Born in Everett, Massachusetts, Tom lived a full and meaningful life centered around family, service, his Catholic faith, and a successful career. A proud graduate of Boston College High School and St. Anselm College, Tom went on to serve honorably in the United States Army. He spent over 30 years in Scituate, Massachusetts where he and his wife raised their family before retiring to Sarasota, Florida. Tom had a long and accomplished career as a regional sales and marketing manager, working with Damon IEC and Ohaus Corporation. Outside of work, he found joy in boating, traveling, reading, and, most of all, spending time with his loved ones.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Dorothy McCarthy; his daughter, Kimberly Ramsey and her husband, Robert, of Kingston, MA; and his daughter Sarah MacLachlan, and her husband Chad, of Novato, CA. He was a beloved grandfather to Finnegan Ramsey, and Brady, Jack, and Caroline MacLachlan. Tom is also survived by his brother, William McCarthy of Largo, FL, and his niece Kelly McCarthy of Derry, NH. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Angela (Petipas) McCarthy, his grandson Aidan Ramsey, and his nephew Christopher McCarthy.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2026, at 10:30am, which would have been Tom's 89th birthday, at St. Patrick's Church, 7900 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, followed by the burial service at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, Florida.
Tom will be remembered for his warm heart, sharp wit, and steadfast dedication to family and friends. His legacy lives on in the love he shared and the memories he leaves behind.
