Thomas Edward
Mcneeley
December 3, 1947 – May 1, 2019
Thomas Edward McNeeley "Mac" of Avon Lake, OH and North Fort Myers, FL passed away Wednesday May 1, peacefully in Hope Hospice Care, Cape Coral, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. Born December 3, 1947 in Cleveland OH to Hugh McNeeley Jr. and Geraldine McNeeley (Traynor), he is survived by his three older siblings David McNeeley, Timothy McNeeley (Rosie) and Patrick McNeeley (Christine); by his spouse and light of his life, Merri McNeeley (Lewis); his two beloved sons, Kevin (Bryna Loewer) and Michael (Angel Kornuc), his step-son Andy M. Boehnen and step-daughter Ellen M. Falvo (Boehnen) (Kevin Falvo) and his two wonderful granddaughters, Casey Geraldine McNeeley and Keira Lee McNeeley. Tom was a loving and attentive father ("Big Daddy"), stepfather and grandfather. Tom graduated from St. Edwards H.S., Lakewood, OH in 1965 and obtained his Associate in Arts degree from Cuyahoga Community College in 1969. Tom was a firefighter and paramedic in Fairview, OH for over 25 years and enjoyed many enduring friendships with fellow firefighters. After retiring in his 50's he began living his dream of snow-birding between Florida and Ohio. He enjoyed boating including cruising and sailing. He felt lucky to have a spouse who loved boating as much as he did. They cruised the Great Lakes between Chicago and Canada and Cleveland, the intercoastal waterways of Florida and many locations along the Gulf coast, alone and with friends. Many family members and friends enjoyed boating excursions with "Captain Tom" who was always accommodating and chipper. Tom was a peace seeker and a force for positivity in human connections. His kindness knew no bounds. He enjoyed people immensely and they enjoyed him. He was loved by all. He was an inspiration to family members to be kind and to live your dream. His family is immensely grateful for all the flowers, cards, messages, assistance and kindnesses received in these last weeks. Contributions in Tom's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. A celebration of life service will be held in North Ft. Myers Saturday May 11 at 3pm at the Moody River Estates clubhouse 3050 Moody River Blvd. , North Ft. Myers, FL 33903. A service will also be held in Avon Lake, OH in late June.
