Thomas R.
Stankowski
July 31, 1965 – April 8, 2026
Thomas Robert Stankowski, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026 at the age of 60 after a long battle with cancer.
Tommy was the son of Tom and Kitty Stankowski, born on July 31, 1965, in Évreux France, where his dad and mom were stationed with the Air Force. He grew up in Oxnard, California and attended Hueneme High School where he was a standout golfer. He developed a passion and competitive talent for golf, resulting in a successful Junior level career and was awarded a full golf scholarship to Arizona State University. Tommy was a respected teammate and competitor. As a talented athlete, he had a successful collegiate career winning twice at ASU and was a 2-time NCAA All American. With a passion to play professionally, Tommy spent the next twenty years of his life traveling the world as a professional golfer winning many tournaments including the 2005 Arizona Open and the 2008 Canadian Tour Championship.
After spending most of his adult life on the road, Tommy moved to Fort Myers, Florida to be closer to his aging parents. It was there that he experienced a new season of life where he enjoyed camping on the beach, giving golf lessons on the range, playing golf with his buddies and spending quality time with his family. He also spent over 8 years as a valuable Team member at Whole Foods Market in both Naples and Fort Myers.
Tommy will always be remembered as a man with a quiet strength and a giving heart. A devoted son, he was always there caring and honoring his parents in their later years. After his dad passed away, Tommy continued his father’s legacy of tending to the garden at home, helping neighbors in need and taking care of mom. Tommy’s life lives on in the minds and hearts of those who loved and cared for him. He is forever a beloved son, a loving brother and uncle, a respected teammate and an encouraging friend.
Tommy is survived by his mother Kitty, sisters Dori (Bob), Mary, Patty, and Therese, and brother Paul (Regina). He is preceded in death by his beloved pops Tom.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hope Hospice of Florida. A celebration of life is planned for August 8, 2026 in Fort Myers, Florida. We are also planning a memorial golf tournament in Ventura County, California later in the year. Please contact the family for more details.
