Obituary

Timothy James Dalrymple, lovingly known as Tim, passed away on March 27, 2026, at the age of 81.

Born on May 12, 1944, in Jamestown, New York, Tim lived a life defined by dedication, resilience, and deep love for his family. Tim spent his childhood in orphanages and with foster families in rural upstate New York. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

Following his military service, Tim built a remarkable career with GTE, later Verizon, where he worked for an extraordinary 50 years. Through hard work and determination, he steadily rose through the ranks, earning the respect of colleagues and forming lasting friendships along the way through transfers from Florida to Texas to Maryland.

Tim considered himself a true Floridian, having lived in Florida long before air conditioning became commonplace—a point he often shared with pride. He embraced the warmth, character, and community of his adopted home, where he built a life centered on family and simple joys like spending time on his beloved Tampa Bay.

He was preceded in death by his sons, David Dalrymple and Derek Dalrymple, his sister Gloria Quist, and his nephew Albert Terry.

Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Therese Dalrymple; his daughters, Denise Reardon (Kurt Reardon), Jessica Dalrymple, and Nicole Dalrymple; his cherished grandchildren, Charlie Reardon, Carson Reardon and Aspen Dalrymple; and his nieces, Delilah Terry and Mamie Cook. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle whose steady presence and quiet strength touched all who knew him.

A military burial service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery (9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241) on May 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., honoring Tim’s service to his country. A reception at Der Dutchman (3712 Bahia Vista St, Sarasota, FL 34232) will take place after the service at 12:00 pm.

Tim’s legacy of loyalty, perseverance, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory be made to The Haven, https://www.thehavensrq.org/, where his daughter Nicole receives services.
