June 1, 1941 – May 1, 2026
Timothy Kent Leonard, 84, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, in Venice, Florida. Born on June 1, 1941, in Richmond, IN, to Mary and Charles Leonard. Tim grew up with a deep appreciation for learning, hard work, and family—values that guided him throughout his life.
Tim graduated from the University of Cincinnati as a Metallurgical Engineer and went on to earn his Ph.D. from Ohio State University. A gifted analytical thinker with a natural talent for problem‑solving, he became known for his expertise in computer programming and engineering, long before the field became widespread.
His professional career began at Union Carbide, which later became part of Elkem Metals. Tim’s work opened doors to the world, allowing him to travel and collaborate internationally. He spent meaningful periods working in Norway, Australia, and South Africa, experiences that broadened his perspective and enriched his life in countless ways.
Tim is survived by his devoted wife, Janet S. Leonard; his daughter, Karen A. Quinn; and his grandchildren, Ethan A. Leonard, Samantha Quinn Murphy, and William R. Quinn. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Andrew C. Leonard, and his brothers, Philip Leonard and Steven Leonard.
